So, River is home! I dropped her off yesterday morning for her spay surgery and I was a worried momma all day long. The vet finally called and said that she had woken up and was doing wonderful. They said she was being very quiet and was watching everyone walk by.
I picked her up first thing this morning but had to go to work immediately after settling her in her crate. She isn’t wearing an e-collar but I don’t think she’ll need to. She hasn’t been licking her incision at all. I think it helps that we have plenty of toys to keep her occupied.
I was surprised, but Einstein seemed worried that she was missing yesterday. When the SO came home for lunch, he said that Einstein was sleeping right outside of River’s empty crate. Also, if you asked, “Where’s River?” he would search the house for her. (Yay! He DOES love her!)
When I picked her up this morning, she was full of energy. I was expecting her to be a bit more dopey but she was ready to go. She was very alert the whole way home and did not want to go into her crate. She settled down quickly and I ran off to work.
Today, the SO said that when he took the dogs out during lunch, River’s urine had blood in it. I noticed it again after work. I looked into it and it is not uncommon to have some blood present after spaying, but I will call the vet first thing in the morning if it persists.
Otherwise, River is her old (new?) self already! She should be healed within 10 days, which is just in time for the Florida Corgi PIcnic!!!
